How Grades Work in This Class
Assignments are worth points. Add up the number of points you earn. That is your grade. Your points are not averaged, they are just totaled.
In this class, you pick the grade you want to earn and earn the number of points needed to receive that grade. It’s really that simple.
- Want an A? You need to get 90-100 points.
- Want a B? 80-89 points.
- It’s like a video game
You’ll have the opportunity to earn at least 110 points over the course of the semester. As long as there are no Academic Integrity issues, you can always redo an assignment to get the maximum number of points.

Tracking Your Progress
Once every two weeks, you should check your grade. To do so, click on Grades in our course navigation menu. You’ll see a list of assignments and either a checkmark (which means Complete) or an X for any assignment you’ve submitted (after I’ve graded it). If you see a comment bubble, click on it to view my feedback for you.
Look for progress, feedback from me, and how you feel doing an assignment. You know you’re doing well when you’re getting more points every week.
What if an Assignment is Late or I want to Revise?
Late Work
Every assignment has a due date and I want to stress to you how important it is to try to meet them. I have been teaching online for a long time. Getting behind is the number one thing that makes students end up dropping or failing an online class. Strive to meet the due dates. But … if you miss a due date, no big deal. Turn it in late. I will still grade it.
If an assignment is not submitted by the due date, you may lose points. If you need an extension, you should email me or make an appointment, to talk about your plan.
Revising Work
Most assignments can be revised and resubmitted for a better grade. Email me first to make sure.
